frequently asked questions

In addition to helping you create a beautiful space, we alleviate the stress that can come with it through project managment and quality control. We help establish an overall direction, realistic budget, and ensure the project remains within those parameters. Arguably one of the most valuable aspects of hiring a designer is our connections to people and resources in both the building and design industries. These connections are the bridge between your vision and a truly original end result.

Designers, architects and contractors all have different roles in the design and build process. As an interior designer, our expertise is primarily in the aesthetics of form and function. We bring a project to life through the selection of finishes, furnishings, and decor. The architect's expertise is in the design of the structure, while the contractor builds from the plans created by the architect and designer. Not all projects require all three.

Full service interior design is a turn-key service that moves a project from concept through completion. Our job is to cover every aspect—including collaborating with the architect, contractor, and tradespeople on projects that require them, to sourcing items, placing orders and coordinating deliveries, quality inspections and managing damages. We finish with the complete install of all the fixtures, furnishings, and accessories.

For Full Service Design our business model is based on a flat design fee per room. In the Pre-Design Phase clients are presented with a detailed proposal covering the design fee, scope of work, and complete furnishings investment estimate, based on their wishes for the space. Upon approval of the proposal, 50% of the design fee initiates the project, with the remaining 50% of the design fee due upon approval of the conceptual design. The furnishing investment (including freight + tax) is paid in full upon approval of the detailed design proposal, and sets off the ordering and procurement phase.

Every project is different in scale and scope, so it is difficult to gauge a precise timeline, though we try our very best. Furnishing and smaller scale renovation projects typically take between 4-12 months. New build and large scale renovation projects are generally a year or more. We encourage prospective clients to reach out as far in advance as possible. Planning ahead allows us to be fully prepared when the project starts.

Every service begins with the inquiry form. Once the form has been reviewed, we will schedule a complimentary 20-minute discovery call to discuss the project, and what service will best suit your needs.

Like many of the other questions, this is also dependent on the scope of projects. Some projects are large scale and take more than a year to complete, allowing us to take on smaller projects at the same time. Along with our tried and true process, we take a careful look at the calendar + current workload when we consider each prospective project. We take on a limited amount of work at any given time to ensure every project receives the time and attention it deserves.
